Belarusian top-ranked player Sabalenka backs fellow players' stance on French Open prize distribution, saying a boycott may be 'the only way to fight for our rights.' The move reflects growing discontent over prize money allocation across professional tennis.

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus has publicly backed player concerns over French Open prize money distribution, saying a boycott could be the 'only way to fight for our rights' if negotiations fail. Her remarks strike a significant blow to the growing prize money dispute in professional tennis.
Sabalenka's comments come as several elite players have publicly expressed dissatisfaction with Grand Slam prize distribution. The Belarusian champion stressed that a clear gap exists between the effort professional tennis players invest and the revenue tournaments generate, arguing players have the right to advocate for their financial interests.
In recent years, professional tennis players have repeatedly called for higher prize money for lower-ranked players, particularly at smaller tour events. Players have pointed out that while the commercial value of the tour has grown substantially, prize distribution structures have not adjusted accordingly, leaving most players struggling to cover basic career expenses.
Sabalenka added that she understands and supports her peers' position, emphasizing that unified action is key to winning reform. With the French Open season approaching, this prize money battle is poised to become a focal point for the tennis world.
